Loss is terribly painful. The grief journey can be very challenging.
I wanted to let you know that my new book Walking with God Through Grief: Devotions and Affirmations for Grieving Hearts has just been released. It is currently on New Release Special (paperback $9.99, with eventual retail of $16; Kindle $0.99 with eventual retail of $6).
Walking with God Through Grief contains 90 brief, 2-3 page devotionals. Each chapter is grounded in the Bible and designed to connect with your heart.
This book was written for anyone grieving from all the loss and change in their lives following the death of someone special. The goal of Walking with God Through Grief is to help grieving hearts cry out to God and walk with Him amid the pain and upheaval occurring in their lives.
To give you a taste of the book, here’s the first chapter…
I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO
I’ve lost someone special.
I don’t know what to think or how to feel.
I don’t know what to do. Help me, Lord.
Your heart has been hit.
Someone special is no longer here.
That’s painful. Terribly painful. Grief is the natural result.
Life is all about relationships. We’re created for connection. We were made to love and be loved.
God places other people in our lives. God places us in the lives of others. This is true of our loved one who is no longer here.
When someone dies or leaves, the separation is painful. Since we’re designed for relationships, this physical separation feels wrong somehow.
The emotional pain can be deep and intense. We can feel devastated.
I’m reminded of the Psalms. In many of these ancient songs, the writers cried out to the Lord in their pain. They expressed their grief.
In Psalm 130, the writer said:
“Out of the depths I cry to you, O
LORD! O Lord, hear my voice!”
We can cry out to the Lord. From the depths of our being, we can express our thoughts and feelings to Him.
We can mourn. We can weep. We can cry out, even in anguish. We can be honest with Him.
He already knows what’s happening inside us. He is with us. He knows our pain and grief.
It’s okay to feel hurt. It’s okay to grieve. Share your heart with the Lord. He is listening.
Give yourself permission to grieve today.
Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD!
O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive to the
voice of my pleas for mercy!
(Psalm 130:1-2, ESV)
Lord, have mercy on me. I’m hurting.
I lift my eyes to You.
Let me experience Your comfort and love.
I miss my loved one deeply, Lord.
Thank you for being with me – all the time, in everything.
Help me to give myself permission to grieve today.
In Jesus’ name…
Affirmation: The Lord is with me. I will give myself permission to grieve today.
My prayer is that Walking with God Through Grief would be healing, hope-giving, and encouraging to many who are hurting and suffering from their own losses and from all that is happening in the world around them.
Be kind to yourself.
