Comfort.

We look for it. We long for it.

Grieving hearts need it to survive.

Loss is painful. Separation hurts.
Stunned, shocked, sad, confused, and angry,
we blink in disbelief.
The pain can be immense.
What can we do?

Composed of brief chapters, Comfort for Grieving Hearts is designed to be read one chapter per day, giving you bite-sized bits of comfort, encouragement, and healing over a period of time.

Healing from the loss of a loved one is hard work. To do it well, we need to engage the bereavement challenge every day.  In Comfort for Grieving Hearts, Gary guides the reader through the healing process with a daily dose of honesty, courage, compassion and love.

Q&A with Gary

Q: Why did you write Comfort for Grieving Hearts?

I surveyed over a thousand people dealing with heavy loss and asked what was most difficult for them at present. Over 80% replied, “Loneliness.” By nature, grief is lonely, and we need good companions for this journey. I wrote this book to be just that. My goal was to meet grieving hearts in their pain and walk with them there, providing comfort, hope, and encouragement along the way.

Q: Who is this book written for?

Comfort for Grieving Hearts is written for anyone going through a loss of any kind. Though the book focuses primarily on the death of someone close to us, it is immensely relevant and practical for other losses as well.

Q: Can this book be used in groups?

Absolutely. Read and then discussed several chapters at a time, Comfort for Grieving Hearts can kindle warm, real, and meaningful discussion among those enduring a loss. If you would like my input or feedback in the process, feel free to email me.

Q: Do you ever speak on this subject?

Absolutely and often. The concepts and principles in Comfort for Grieving Hearts can presented as a single talk or in a seminar/workshop format. If you’re interested in having me speak to your group, church, school, or company, email me. Let’s start talking.

An easy to read book with short, daily chapters. The format offers a unique way to deal with grief. I especially like the “affirmations” at the end of each chapter. Be sure to read the Summary of Grief Affirmations at the end of the book.
