[dropcap2 variation=”coffee”]I[/dropcap2] come home after work, my cat runs to the door to greet me. If she’s out, somehow she knows my car from all the other cars in our apartment parking lot. When I cut the engine and open the car door, there she is.
She runs from loud noises, trucks, and people she does not know. She moves away from voices she does not recognize. But when I call, here she comes.
My cat trusts me. She trusts me because she knows me.
Jesus said that His sheep know His voice. He knows them by name. They come when He calls. They run from other voices.
What’s the antidote to fear? Trust. Trust in someone. Someone trustworthy.
There are voices from our past. They have become embedded in our hearts. Tape recordings of lies designed to keep us from really living. It’s time to become aware of those voices and deliberately move away from them.
But what will we run to?
The One who loves us.
I need to take lessons from my cat.
