[dropcap2 variation=”coffee”]I[/dropcap2] have a confession to make: I am not generally thankful. Perhaps it’s the result of a difficult background, but I tend to look for problems – and then I tackle them. I try to anticipate them and head them off at the pass.
So I’m often caught up in what might be, rather than what is. I’m constantly considering, planning, or managing some potential issue. I rarely just enjoy.
Gratitude is not my natural reflex, but if I gaze deep down inside I see it there in my heart. It sits like a huge reservoir waiting to be tapped, expressed, and enjoyed.
I take a deep breath, and pause. I consider my life, my family, and my friends. I look at Jesus. And here it comes – a sense of relief and an internal smile. Thankfulness begins to emerge, followed closely by joy and peace.
What difference might it make if we all paused and looked for the gratitude inside?
Go ahead. Take a moment. Consider your life and see the faces of family and friends. Let your blessings come to mind. Gaze into the face of Jesus.
Wait for it. Here it comes…
Ahh, sweet gratitude.
Now, go be awesome.
